Zwingli United Church of Christ of Mt. Vernon

To Welcome – To Wonder – To Worship

We are a small church with a large heart where the Scriptures are read carefully with eyes wide open to the world. Our goal, following Jesus, is to be as generous in our welcome as he was, breaking down every barrier that divides neighbor from neighbor.

Christmas Tree

Christmas Eve Service

December 24, 2022 7:00 PM The Christmas Eve service is always a special time to hear the story of Jesus' birth and sing familiar carols. There will be no worship on Sunday, December 25, 2022.

The Blessing Song

Surprise Choir

We love music but there isn't always time for scheduled practices. Surprise Choir gives us an opportunity to have fun with music and add something special to worship.

Food Fellowship

Gathering around a table and sharing food as well as our lives with each other is very important. We celebrate communion each week and we share table fellowship monthly. Our congregation is sensitive to dietary issues (our communion bread is gluten free) and we have the best cooks!

Community Garden

Our First Community Garden! Summer 2022. We care about creation and want to be good stewards of the land we have. We also want to be good neighbors and offer food to those who would benefit. The garden includes a sitting area for quiet reflection and community campfires.

Open and Affirming

“Come to me” Jesus said, “all you that are weary and carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11: 28)

“In this church we strive to follow Jesus and to imitate the open welcome and the unconditional acceptance he showed to every person he met.” (Mt Vernon UCC Constitution)

“Responding to the grace of God, the Mt Vernon Zwingli United Church of Christ is an Open and Affirming congregation.  We welcome all persons, including those of all races, ages, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, family structures, faith backgrounds, abilities and economic circumstances.  We recognize all people as
children of God, welcome all people to worship and serve with us and consider all who come to be a necessary part of this fellowship with all its privileges and responsibilities.”
